On Thursday, 4 September 2014, the Asthma Support Network is launching a new Asthma Referral Pad resource which provides contact details for free asthma education services in the ACT and tips on how to improve asthma management.
The ACT Asthma Consumer Survey 2014 results will be released to the public for the first time giving an indication of peoples' experiences with asthma in the Canberra region.
Results from the ACT Asthma Consumer Survey 2014 indicate that 54% of people with asthma were not aware of free asthma education services available in the ACT. The Asthma Referral Pad resource aims to address this by raising awareness of the services in the community.
In addition, people living with asthma will have the opportunity to assess their level of asthma control by finding out their Asthma Control Score. The results of the ACT Asthma Consumer Survey 2014 will also be released.
The launch of the resource, the Asthma Control Score and the release of the survey results coincides with National Asthma Week (1-7 September 2014).
Today is Change Day, a social movement where thousands of people across Australia join together by making a pledge to demonstrate how one simple action or new idea can make a difference and improve care for clients, consumers, patients, their families and their carers.
Members of the Asthma Support Network Steering Committee are proud to have made our pledge:
Working Together to Help Others Breathe Better
"We pledge to work together through the Asthma Support Network to improve coordination between our asthma services, support groups and health professionals in the Australian Capital Territory, to improve patient and client outcomes.
